This read-only object reports the measured Eb/No between 0 and 16 dB in 0.1 dB units, returning 999 if the demodulator is unlocked and capping at 160 (16 dB) for any value above that. Eb/No is the primary figure of merit for satellite link quality -- the actual margin above the minimum needed to maintain lock -- so this is the value an admin watches in real time during a rain-fade event or antenna-pointing adjustment to judge whether the link has adequate headroom or is at risk of dropping. A link with a comfortable 9.5 dB Eb/No reading losing several dB during a storm to, say, 4.0 dB would still be locked but with much reduced fade margin, prompting an admin to watch closely for an imminent unlock if the weather worsens.
