This is one of the unit's 3xDES receive decrypt keys, 192 bits (24 bytes, entered as 48 characters) long, used to decrypt inbound traffic on the satellite link. Having multiple numbered key slots per demodulator supports loading a new key into an unused slot ahead of time and switching over, enabling a rekey without dropping the encrypted link mid-operation. For example, an admin performing a scheduled key rotation would populate this slot with the new key value before the far end switches to using it, avoiding a service interruption during the changeover.
