What is eponSrvProfilePortMcMaxGroupNum?
This integer (0-255) caps how many IGMP multicast groups a subscriber port using this EPON service profile is allowed to join at the same time. It matters because without a cap, one subscriber rapidly channel-surfing or running multiple set-top boxes could consume a disproportionate share of PON upstream multicast-join bandwidth. For example, setting eponSrvProfilePortMcMaxGroupNum to 8 lets a household watch or record up to eight simultaneous IPTV channels across several boxes before any further join request is rejected.
