This OCTET STRING (1-16 bytes, read-create) holds the firmware/software version string a rule requires an ONU to be running for a match under modelIdAndSwver matching. Admins use it to block auto-authentication of devices still on outdated or vulnerable firmware. For example, restricting a rule's eponOnuPolicyAuthRuleSoftwareVersion to 'V3.2.1' means ONUs still on an older, vulnerable firmware fail the auto-auth check and require manual review instead of being admitted automatically.
