mbufWaits

Module: BSDUNIX-MIB

OID (symbolic): BSDUNIX-MIB::mbufWaits

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.4.2.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter32

Access: read-only

Description: The number of requests for mbufs which resulted in a wait.

What is mbufWaits?

Tracks how many times a request for a memory buffer (mbuf) could not be fulfilled immediately and had to wait, indicating memory pressure in the kernel networking subsystem. High values suggest the system is under heavy network load or is running low on mbuf resources.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.4.2.5
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> BSDUNIX-MIB::mbufWaits

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.4.2.5.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> BSDUNIX-MIB::mbufWaits.1

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> mbufWaits.1
