bnLogMsgClearMessageBuffers

Module: BN-LOG-MESSAGE-MIB

OID (symbolic): BN-LOG-MESSAGE-MIB::bnLogMsgClearMessageBuffers

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.16.1.1.14

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Bits

Access: read-write

Description: Setting this objects causes messages currently saved in the log message buffer facilities to be deleted. All messages of types matching the specified bits will be deleted. For example, a Set on this object containing bits volSerious(2) and nonVolCritical(4) will delete all 'serious' messages from volatile storage, and all 'critical' messages from non-volatile storage. The none(0) value doesn't have any effect at read and write operations. It have been introduced to correct the BITS syntax declaration.

What is bnLogMsgClearMessageBuffers?

When set, triggers the deletion of stored log messages from the device's message buffer; the bit mask value specifies which message type categories (such as volatile-serious or volatile-informational) are cleared. This is used to free buffer space or purge log history on demand.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.16.1.1.14
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> BN-LOG-MESSAGE-MIB::bnLogMsgClearMessageBuffers

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.16.1.1.14.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> BN-LOG-MESSAGE-MIB::bnLogMsgClearMessageBuffers.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.16.1.1.14.1 s <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> bnLogMsgClearMessageBuffers.1
