bdAvgFrameSize

Module: BD-MIB

OID (symbolic): BD-MIB::bdAvgFrameSize

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1588.2.1.1.51.2.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Unsigned32

Access: accessible-for-notify

Description: This object represents the average size in bytes of all frames that were transmitted on the ports during the averaging window. This object is accessible only for traps and it is one of the variable binding in bdTrap and bdClearTrap.

What is bdAvgFrameSize?

This integer records the average size in bytes of all frames transmitted on the monitored port during the bottleneck sampling window. Operators use it to understand traffic composition during congestion. Example: bdAvgFrameSize = 512 indicates frames averaged 512 bytes, suggesting a mix of control frames and small data; larger values (1500) indicate streaming or bulk data dominates the bottleneck period.
