Category: Device Management

Description: Provides base management objects for AI-series network access equipment including system identity and configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is AIMIB?

AIMIB provides base management objects for AI-series Ethernet hub equipment, covering system identity, trap configuration, and basic device management structure. It exposes objects such as manager community string, trap destination/string, system OID, and proxy/agent grouping rather than deep interface or performance counters, reflecting the simple architecture of Ethernet hub devices. Its monitoring value is largely at the system-identity and notification-configuration level: confirming the device's identity (aiSystemOID), its configured SNMP community, and its trap string/destination are correct, which is foundational software-configuration status rather than hardware sensor data given the hub-class simplicity of the device. There is no explicit indication of dependency on other MIBs, though it likely coexists with a standard MIB-II implementation on the same device for interface-level detail. The AIMIB MIB is deployed on simple, legacy Ethernet hub products from the AI product line where basic SNMP manageability was added.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in AIMIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • AI-series Ethernet hub

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll aiSystemOID to confirm device identity and aiManagerCommunity/aiManagerTrapString to verify the configured community string and trap-destination string used for notifications are set correctly. If aiManagerCommunity is found to have reverted to a default value after a firmware reset, that would be caught by comparing the polled value against the expected configuration, flagging a hub that has lost its intended SNMP security settings.

What Can Be Monitored

  • system identity (OID)
  • configured SNMP community string
  • trap destination/string configuration
  • proxy/agent grouping status
