Description: Relevant only when ERRFWD=LSROFF. Enables/disables the possibility to delay turning off and on the laser. This applies to the case when turning off the laser is done as an error forwarding mechanism.
What is physicalPortCapLaserDelayTimer?
This OID stores whether the port supports delaying laser shutdown and restart when using laser-off as an automatic error response mechanism. A network engineer configures this delay to protect the optical transceiver from thermal stress caused by rapid on-off cycling during repeated error conditions. For example, if the delay is enabled with a 1000ms duration, the laser waits a full second after detecting an error before shutting down, preventing cumulative heat damage.
