accStpMaxAge

Module: ACC-STP

OID (symbolic): ACC-STP::accStpMaxAge

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5.1.1.2.13

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description:

The value of the Max Age parameter when the Bridge is the Root or attempting to become the Root. The Max Age parameter is conveyed to ensure that each Bridge in a Bridged Local Area Network has a consistent value against which to test the age of stored protocol information.

What is accStpMaxAge?

This read-write OID (4-3600 seconds) defines how long a bridge waits before discarding stored topology information if it hasn't received updates from the root. Network engineers adjust this when the network is large or unstable to give slower convergence more time before claiming the root is unreachable. For example, setting this to 20 seconds means if a bridge doesn't hear from the root within 20 seconds, it assumes the root is down and recomputes the tree.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5.1.1.2.13
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> ACC-STP::accStpMaxAge

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5.1.1.2.13.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> ACC-STP::accStpMaxAge.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5.1.1.2.13.1 i <value>
