accSlotCompressMode

Module: ACC-MIB

OID (symbolic): ACC-MIB::accSlotCompressMode

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5.1.1.5.2.1.27

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description:

Establishes operational mode of Data Compression. This functionality is appropriate for serial lines.

What is accSlotCompressMode?

This integer enables or selects the data compression algorithm (such as V.42bis) for this serial port to reduce bandwidth consumption. Network engineers activate compression on slow serial lines to maximize throughput for text-heavy or repetitive data, though it adds CPU overhead and latency. Setting this to V.42bis compression mode reduces bandwidth usage of repetitive log files or email, increasing effective throughput on a 56K modem connection.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5.1.1.5.2.1.27
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> ACC-MIB::accSlotCompressMode

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5.1.1.5.2.1.27.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> ACC-MIB::accSlotCompressMode.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5.1.1.5.2.1.27.1 i <value>
