accArpRefresh
Module: ACC-ARP
OID (symbolic): ACC-ARP::accArpRefresh
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5.1.1.11.12
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-write
Description:
When operating in refresh mode, when it is time for an entry to age out, the device will refresh the entry by ARPing for it again. Devices will thus stay in the ARP table until disconnected, even if they are not communicating via the router. In norefresh mode, the entry will simply be aged out, and refreshed only if traffic warrants.
What is accArpRefresh?
This read-write parameter controls whether ARP cache entries are automatically refreshed before they expire or simply aged out and removed. A network engineer might enable refresh mode to keep entries for long-lived connections fresh so the device never loses track of important hosts, or disable it to let stale entries expire and reduce memory usage. For example, with refresh mode enabled, a server that was contacted once will remain in the ARP table indefinitely through periodic refreshes, but with refresh disabled, it will be forgotten after the timeout period (typically minutes to hours).
