This counter reflects the number of Report Error MAC frames sent by the port, representing recoverable errors corrected by MAC layer protocols. Network engineers monitor soft errors as early warning indicators of emerging network problems before they cause data loss or disconnections. A soft error count of 50 is acceptable; a rapid increase to 500 suggests developing physical or electrical issues.
