a3ComSysBridgePortReceiveMulticastLimitFrameType

Module: A3COM-SWITCHING-SYSTEMS-BRIDGE-MIB

OID (symbolic): A3COM-SWITCHING-SYSTEMS-BRIDGE-MIB::a3ComSysBridgePortReceiveMulticastLimitFrameType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.43.29.4.10.3.1.27

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This object identifies the frames type(s) that are to be counted when determining if the receive multicast limit has been exceeded for this bridge port. Devices attached to networks with predominantly high multicast traffic (e.g. video) should set this value to broadcastOnly(2) to detect broadcast storms.

What is a3ComSysBridgePortReceiveMulticastLimitFrameType?

This configuration parameter specifies which frame types count toward the per-port multicast rate limit: all multicast or broadcasts only. Engineers set it to broadcastOnly(2) on video networks to ignore group traffic while catching broadcast storms. The choice determines if legitimate multicast is throttled by the limit.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.43.29.4.10.3.1.27
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> A3COM-SWITCHING-SYSTEMS-BRIDGE-MIB::a3ComSysBridgePortReceiveMulticastLimitFrameType

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.43.29.4.10.3.1.27.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> A3COM-SWITCHING-SYSTEMS-BRIDGE-MIB::a3ComSysBridgePortReceiveMulticastLimitFrameType.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.43.29.4.10.3.1.27.1 i <value>
