a3ComSysBridgePortReceiveMulticastLimit

Module: A3COM-SWITCHING-SYSTEMS-BRIDGE-MIB

OID (symbolic): A3COM-SWITCHING-SYSTEMS-BRIDGE-MIB::a3ComSysBridgePortReceiveMulticastLimit

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.43.29.4.10.3.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This variable limits the number of multicast frames forwarded by this port over a 1 second interval. The minimum threshold limit may vary between platforms, but can be determined by multiplying this value by the swSysBridgePortReceiveMulticastLimitMultiplier value. For example if this value equals 2, and the swSysBridgePortReceiveMulticastLimitMultiplier equals 1000 then no more than 2000 multicast frames per second will be forwarded by this port.

The default value for this object is zero which an infinite rate.

What is a3ComSysBridgePortReceiveMulticastLimit?

This configurable integer (0-200000) caps multicast frames per second on the port to prevent flooding. A network engineer sets this to throttle broadcast storms and protect downstream devices. Setting the limit to 5000 with a multiplier of 1000 allows 5 million multicast frames per second.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.43.29.4.10.3.1.4
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> A3COM-SWITCHING-SYSTEMS-BRIDGE-MIB::a3ComSysBridgePortReceiveMulticastLimit

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.43.29.4.10.3.1.4.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> A3COM-SWITCHING-SYSTEMS-BRIDGE-MIB::a3ComSysBridgePortReceiveMulticastLimit.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.43.29.4.10.3.1.4.1 i <value>
