This theme covers the per-port thresholds and enable flags that cap broadcast traffic to prevent a broadcast storm, a condition where flooding broadcasts (often from a loop) overwhelm the network. Objects here typically set an upper limit, in packets or bytes per second, above which the switch blocks or shuts down the port, and sometimes a lower warning threshold below the block point. Admins tune these limits per port based on expected legitimate broadcast volume, then rely on the associated alarm objects to know when a port actually triggered storm control.
