5 modules from ISMS
The modules on this page aren't a hardware vendor's MIBs at all -- ISMS is the IETF working group that standardized ways to secure SNMP's own transport, and its three modules (SNMP-SSH-TM-MIB, SNMP-TLS-TM-MIB, and SNMP-TSM-MIB) are vendor-neutral RFC-standard MIBs for running SNMP over SSH or TLS/DTLS instead of relying solely on SNMPv3's built-in USM cryptography. Recurring subject matter across all three is transport-security session health: counts of session opens/closes and open errors, authentication and certificate-validation failures, and invalid or unknown security-cache/prefix conditions, letting an operator confirm secure SNMP sessions are establishing cleanly or spot a rising rate of auth/certificate failures. Come to this page if you've enabled SNMP-over-SSH or SNMP-over-TLS/DTLS on any device (regardless of vendor) and need to monitor that transport's own session and security-event counters. Since these are IETF standard MIBs rather than vendor extensions, they apply identically to any SNMP agent or manager that implements the corresponding transport model.
| Module | Description |
|---|---|
| SNMP-SSH-TM-MIB IPNM ✓ | Defines objects for managing SNMP over SSH transport, enabling secure SNMP communication through SSH tunnels. |
| SNMP-TLS-TM-MIB IPNM ✓ | Defines objects for managing SNMP over TLS and DTLS transport, providing certificate-based authentication and encryption for SNMP messages. |
| SNMP-TSM-MIB IPNM ✓ | Defines objects for the Transport Security Model, providing authentication and encryption of SNMP messages by leveraging external secure transport protocols. |
| SSHSM-DISCOVERY-MIB | IETF ISMS working group MIB for discovering SNMP agents that support the Secure Shell Security Model (SSHSM), applicable to any SNMPv3-managed network device |
| Transport-Subsystem-MIB | Defines SNMP Transport Subsystem MIB objects for managing secure transport model sessions and parameters between SNMP engines |
