zyStromControlPortBroadcastRate

Module: ZYXEL-STORM-CONTROL-MIB

OID (symbolic): ZYXEL-STORM-CONTROL-MIB::zyStromControlPortBroadcastRate

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.890.1.15.3.78.1.2.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Allowed broadcast rate in pkts/s. For FE port, the maximum value is 148800 pkts/s. For GE port, the maximum value is 262143 pkts/s.

What is zyStromControlPortBroadcastRate?

This object sets the maximum allowed broadcast packet rate, in packets per second, for a port, up to 148800 pkts/s on Fast Ethernet or 262143 pkts/s on Gigabit ports. Once broadcast limiting is enabled on the port, traffic above this threshold is dropped, protecting the switch while still allowing normal ARP and DHCP broadcast traffic through. For example, an admin sets this to 5000 pkts/s on a Fast Ethernet port, well under the FE ceiling, to catch a misbehaving NIC flooding broadcasts.
