This read-only value, in units of 100 meters, reports the maximum transfer distance the transceiver supports on single-mode short-reach fiber; 255 means greater than 25.4km, and 0 means single-mode isn't supported or the distance must be derived from the transceiver's technology type. Admins use it to verify reach before deploying a short-reach single-mode optic.
