Description: A text string which identifies the name of this cross-connection. M1400 UIT-T specifies the field's format like this: NameTownA/NameSuffixA-NameTownB/NameSuffixB NameFunctionSNameSerial * NameTownX field accepts alpha-numeric and space characters. NameTownB is preceded by a '-' character. Maximum length is 12 charracters. Not mandatory fields. * NameSuffixX field accepts alpha-numeric characters. It's preceded by a '/' character. Maximum length is 3 characters. Not mandatory fields. * NameFunction field accepts alpha-numeric characters. It's followed by a 'S' character. Maximum length is 3 characters. Mandatory field. It represents the function code. * NameSerial field accepts 4-figure number. Not mandatory field. It represents the serial number and will be incremented automatically from the base serial number provided. For ADR2500 equipments: Links names of a bidirectionnal link must have different name. Same direction SNC protected links have an identical name.

What is xconName?

Sets the human-readable name to assign to a new cross-connection, following an ITU-T M.1400 naming convention combining town, suffix, function code, and serial number fields. An admin provisioning a new circuit would set this to a structured name like "Paris/01-Lyon/02 CIRS0001" for consistent circuit tracking.
