wwpXcvrErrorType

Module: WWP-XCVR-MIB

OID (symbolic): WWP-XCVR-MIB::wwpXcvrErrorType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.6141.2.14.1.2.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: Indicates if the Xcvr specified by the wwpXcvrPortId and wwpXcvrId is faulted because of checksum failed or optical fault. This object only make sense if some xcvr has been detected faulted otherwise it returns none.

What is wwpXcvrErrorType?

This enumerated value (none, chksumFailed, or opticalFault) reports why a specific transceiver identified by its port and transceiver ID has been detected as faulted. This object is carried inside the wwpXcvrErrorTypeNotification trap so that when a transceiver fault is detected, the notification tells an admin whether it was a checksum failure (bad EEPROM identification data) or an optical fault (such as a failed laser); otherwise it returns none. For example, a trap carrying this object set to opticalFault(2) tells an admin the identified transceiver has an optical-level fault rather than a data-integrity problem.
