wwpDhcpDiscoveryMsgInterval

Module: WWP-DHCP-CLIENT-MIB

OID (symbolic): WWP-DHCP-CLIENT-MIB::wwpDhcpDiscoveryMsgInterval

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.6141.2.18.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-write

Description: The time interval for discovery messages issued before the client received the first reply.

What is wwpDhcpDiscoveryMsgInterval?

This value sets, in milliseconds, how often the device resends DHCPDISCOVER messages before it gets its first reply from a DHCP server, defaulting to 125 per the source's DEFVAL. A network administrator might shorten this on a network where DHCP servers respond quickly but discovery is timing out too slowly by default, to speed up initial address acquisition. For example, lowering wwpDhcpDiscoveryMsgInterval from 125 to 50 would make the device retry discovery requests more aggressively while waiting for its first DHCP offer.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.6141.2.18.1.1.3
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> WWP-DHCP-CLIENT-MIB::wwpDhcpDiscoveryMsgInterval

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.6141.2.18.1.1.3.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> WWP-DHCP-CLIENT-MIB::wwpDhcpDiscoveryMsgInterval.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.6141.2.18.1.1.3.1 i <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> wwpDhcpDiscoveryMsgInterval.1
