Category: D-Link QoS

Description: Manages D-Link Weighted Random Early Detection queue configuration, drop thresholds, and congestion statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is WRED-MIB?

WRED-MIB is a D-Link module for managing Weighted Random Early Detection (WRED) queue configuration on the switch/router's egress queues, a congestion-avoidance mechanism that proactively drops packets before queues fill completely. It exposes per-queue WRED configuration such as drop thresholds and weighting parameters, along with congestion/drop statistics. Its monitoring role is performance-oriented: tracking drop counts and threshold behavior per queue reveals whether the device is experiencing sustained congestion on particular traffic classes, which is a key software-level indicator of network stress on the device. No specific dependency on other MIBs is apparent from the minimal module description, though it logically complements standard QoS/queue MIBs. It is deployed on D-Link managed switches or routers implementing QoS-based congestion management on their egress interfaces, where a WRED-MIB download helps administrators tune per-queue drop thresholds against real congestion behavior.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in WRED-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • D-Link managed switch/router

Monitoring Examples

No sample object or table names were extracted for this module, so specific identifiers cannot be cited; an administrator would typically poll per-queue drop-threshold configuration and drop-event counters to detect a queue experiencing sustained congestion and tune WRED parameters accordingly. Without a verified object list, further technical detail would be speculative rather than grounded in the MIB.

What Can Be Monitored

  • WRED queue configuration
  • drop thresholds
  • congestion/drop statistics
