wgSystemCpuUtil

Module: WATCHGUARD-SYSTEM-STATISTICS-MIB

OID (symbolic): WATCHGUARD-SYSTEM-STATISTICS-MIB::wgSystemCpuUtil

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.3097.6.3.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter64

Access: read-only

Description: CPU utilization of the system in last 5 seconds. The value is measured in 0.01%. For example, if the value is 234, then CPU utilization is 2.34%.

What is wgSystemCpuUtil?

This read-only counter reports the WatchGuard system's CPU utilization over the last 5 seconds, expressed in hundredths of a percent. An admin polls this frequently to catch short-lived CPU spikes that longer-window averages like wgSystemCpuUtil1 or wgSystemCpuUtil5 would smooth over, useful for real-time performance troubleshooting. For example, a reported value of 234 means the CPU was 2.34% utilized over the last 5 seconds.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.3097.6.3.4
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> WATCHGUARD-SYSTEM-STATISTICS-MIB::wgSystemCpuUtil

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.3097.6.3.4.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> WATCHGUARD-SYSTEM-STATISTICS-MIB::wgSystemCpuUtil.1

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> wgSystemCpuUtil.1

Start monitoring WatchGuard firewall/UTM appliance (CPU/memory/connection-table utilization status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Create custom SNMP monitor using the WATCHGUARD-SYSTEM-STATISTICS-MIB::wgSystemCpuUtil OID value, configure state conditions and alerts, and monitor any WatchGuard firewall/UTM appliance (CPU/memory/connection-table utilization status) from a single console.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Select a WatchGuard firewall/UTM appliance (CPU/memory/connection-table utilization status) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type wgSystemCpuUtil into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. It reports cPU utilization of the system in last 5 seconds. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter64-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if utilization exceeds 85%, a common warning threshold before sustained high load affects performance. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
