vSerialConnectorType

Module: VITALINK-MIB

OID (symbolic): VITALINK-MIB::vSerialConnectorType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.29.1.5.1.1.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: Displays whether this port is configured as DCE (Data Communications Equipment) or DTE (Data Terminal Equipment). When a WAN (serial) port is configured as DCE, it generates transmit and receive clocks at discrete frequencies. Most frequencies below 100 kbps can be generated directly. Above 100 kbps, however, the system will select the frequency closest to one specified in the table on page 3-107 of the Vitalink TransLAN/TransRING Reference Manual (part number 014721). The actual, rather than specified, frequency will be displayed as the Bit rate value. When a T1 link is configured utilizing a Bell 306-compatible modem, the configured bit rate should be 1344000, versus 1544000, as this is the effective bit rate of the link after the framing has been stripped.

What is vSerialConnectorType?

Read-only indicator of whether this serial port is configured as DCE (generates transmit/receive clocks) or DTE. On a DCE port the system selects the closest achievable clock frequency to the one configured, and for a Bell 306-compatible T1 modem link the effective configured bit rate should be 1344000 rather than 1544000 once framing overhead is stripped.
