This read-create object sets, in seconds and defaulting to 10, the interval this SLEP interface both waits before sending a keep-alive message to the remote SLEP entity and waits for receiving one from the remote end. An admin tunes this to control how quickly the SLEP interface detects a dead remote peer versus how much keep-alive traffic the link generates. Setting it to 5 would make the interface exchange keep-alives every 5 seconds, detecting a failed peer faster than the default.
