Description: Manages TP-Link switch Switching Database Manager template selection for hardware resource allocation.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TPLINK-SDM-MIB?

TPLINK-SDM-MIB is a TP-Link proprietary MIB governing the Switching Database Manager (SDM), a hardware resource-allocation mechanism common in switch ASICs that lets administrators choose templates balancing TCAM/forwarding-table space among MAC addresses, routes, ACLs, and QoS entries. Its scope is primarily configuration-oriented: selecting and applying an SDM template that determines how internal hardware tables are partitioned. While it does not expose classic performance counters, it indirectly affects and can be correlated with hardware capacity monitoring, since an under-provisioned SDM template can cause MAC/route table exhaustion. It has no stated dependency on other MIBs beyond standard TP-Link enterprise conventions. It is typically used during initial switch provisioning or capacity planning on TP-Link managed switches supporting flexible resource templates. Engineers can download the TPLINK-SDM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TPLINK-SDM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • TP-Link managed switches

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided for this module, so a concrete object-level polling scenario cannot be honestly constructed; based on its description, it would expose an SDM template selector object (something like a current-template index or name) and possibly a pending/reboot-required flag. An administrator would typically read the active template setting to confirm the switch is provisioned with sufficient MAC or route table space for its deployment role.
