tpPortSecurityLearnMode

Module: TPLINK-PORTSECURITY-MIB

OID (symbolic): TPLINK-PORTSECURITY-MIB::tpPortSecurityLearnMode

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11863.6.12.1.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This object indicates the learn mode of the port.

dynamic: When dynamic mode is selected, the learned MAC address will be deleted automatically after the aging time.

static: When static mode is selected, the learned MAC address will be out of the influence of the aging time and can only be deleted manually. The learned entries will be cleared after the switch is rebooted.

permanent: When permanent mode is selected, the learned MAC address will be out of the influence of the aging time and can only be deleted manually. The learned entries will be saved even the switch is rebooted.

What is tpPortSecurityLearnMode?

This read-write integer sets how learned MAC addresses on the port are retained, with dynamic(0) aging entries out automatically, static(1) keeping entries until manually removed but clearing them on reboot, and permanent(2) keeping entries persistently even across a reboot. Admins choose the mode based on how stable the attached devices are expected to be, trading off flexibility against a fixed, hardened port assignment. For example, an admin securing a server room port might set permanent(2) so the learned server MAC survives power cycles and cannot be silently replaced.
