Module: TOS-IDS

OID (symbolic): TOS-IDS::idsTeardrop

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.14331.5.5.1.11.11

Description: teardrop .

What is idsTeardrop?

This counter tracks the total number of Teardrop attacks the Topsec IDS has detected, a denial-of-service technique that sends overlapping, malformed IP fragments to crash vulnerable systems during reassembly. An admin monitors this counter as a legacy-threat indicator against fragmentation-handling bugs in older operating systems. For example, a spike in idsTeardrop detections would prompt the admin to check whether any older, unpatched hosts on the network are being specifically targeted.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.14331.5.5.1.11.11
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> TOS-IDS::idsTeardrop

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.14331.5.5.1.11.11.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> TOS-IDS::idsTeardrop.1
