What is idsSynflood?

This counter tracks the total number of SYN flood attacks the Topsec IDS has detected, a denial-of-service technique that overwhelms a target with half-open TCP connection attempts. An admin monitors this counter to catch attempts to exhaust a server's connection table and deny service to legitimate clients. For example, a sharp rise in idsSynflood detections aimed at a specific server would prompt the admin to check that server's SYN cookie or connection-limiting defenses.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.14331.5.5.1.11.15
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> TOS-IDS::idsSynflood

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.14331.5.5.1.11.15.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> TOS-IDS::idsSynflood.1
