What is idsLand?
This counter tracks the total number of Land attacks the Topsec IDS has detected, a denial-of-service technique that sends a packet with identical spoofed source and destination IP addresses and ports to crash or hang a vulnerable target. An admin monitors this counter primarily as a legacy-threat indicator against older, unpatched systems. For example, a nonzero idsLand count could reveal a scanning tool testing whether any host on the network is still vulnerable to this classic spoofing technique.
