What is idsIpsweep?
This counter tracks the total number of IP sweep (host discovery) attacks the Topsec IDS has detected, where a source systematically probes a range of IP addresses to discover live hosts. An admin watches this counter to catch network reconnaissance activity that often precedes more targeted scanning or exploitation. For example, a rising idsIpsweep count from a single external source would suggest that source is mapping out which hosts on the network are alive before a follow-on attack.
