What is idsIcmpflood?

This counter tracks the total number of ICMP flood attacks the Topsec IDS has detected, a denial-of-service technique that overwhelms a target with a high volume of ICMP (typically echo request/ping) traffic. An admin monitors this counter to catch bandwidth-exhaustion attacks using ICMP traffic. For example, a sharp rise in idsIcmpflood detections would prompt the admin to consider rate-limiting or blocking ICMP from the offending source.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.14331.5.5.1.11.17
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> TOS-IDS::idsIcmpflood

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.14331.5.5.1.11.17.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> TOS-IDS::idsIcmpflood.1
