tnHttpsCertGenerate

Module: TN-HTTPS-MIB

OID (symbolic): TN-HTTPS-MIB::tnHttpsCertGenerate

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.868.2.5.3.1.1.41.2.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The Generate dropdown lets you select RSA or DSA as the public key algorithm. RSA: Generate an RSA key. Uses the RSA internet encryption and authentication system. DSA: Generate a DSA key. Uses the digital signature algorithm (DSA). When done, click the Generate button to generate the certificate as defined at the Generate dropdown. Depending on the encryption method selected (RSA or DSA) here, the HTTPS Certificate > View section displays one of two signature algorithms in effect, either: Signature Algorithm: dsaWithSHA1, or Signature Algorithm: sha1WithRSAEncryption.

What is tnHttpsCertGenerate?

This read-write value selects the public key algorithm, RSA or DSA, to use when generating a new HTTPS certificate, with the resulting certificate's displayed signature algorithm being either sha1WithRSAEncryption or dsaWithSHA1 depending on the choice made. An admin selects this before triggering certificate generation, choosing RSA or DSA based on organizational policy or compatibility requirements for the device's HTTPS certificate. For example, setting this object to rsa(1) and then generating a certificate produces one using RSA key generation, which will subsequently display as using the sha1WithRSAEncryption signature algorithm.
