Description: Defines Trend Micro TippingPoint IPS enterprise OID registration and product hierarchy.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TIPPINGPOINT-REG-MIB?
TIPPINGPOINT-REG-MIB is a Trend Micro (originally 3Com/HP TippingPoint) registration MIB that defines the enterprise OID hierarchy under which all TippingPoint Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) product MIB modules are registered. Like other registration modules it contains only OID assignment nodes, not runtime data objects, so it exposes no interface, environment, or performance information directly. It therefore plays no direct role in reporting hardware/software status; the actual IPS device health data - such as inspection-engine status, filter/signature version, throughput, and hardware sensor readings - lives in the TippingPoint data MIBs registered beneath this tree. It is a foundational dependency for every TippingPoint-specific MIB module in the product line, and administrators setting up polling for the first time often open a TIPPINGPOINT-REG-MIB MIB Browser session simply to confirm the enterprise OID prefix their data MIBs will register beneath. It is used wherever TippingPoint IPS appliances are deployed for network intrusion prevention in enterprise or service-provider security architectures.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TIPPINGPOINT-REG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Trend Micro TippingPoint TPS TXE Series — current-gen inline network detection & response / IPS appliance, per Trend Micro's own datasheet
- Trend Micro TippingPoint IPS appliances
Monitoring Examples
This module contains only OID registration nodes with no runtime data objects, so no monitoring scenario applies directly; actual IPS engine status and performance counters would live in a separate TippingPoint data MIB rooted under this tree.
