Module: TIMESTEP-MIB
OID (symbolic): TIMESTEP-MIB::permitGateEncDevStatus
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1022.9.9
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-only
Description: The encryption device status.
What is permitGateEncDevStatus?
This object reports whether the device's encryption hardware is up, down, or not applicable. Admins check it when troubleshooting VPN or encrypted tunnel failures, since a down encryption device would explain a total loss of secure connectivity through the gateway. A status of down(1) on a device expected to terminate IPsec tunnels would immediately point to the root cause of a VPN outage.
