getTableData

Module: SYNOPTICS-RMON-EXT-MIB

OID (symbolic): SYNOPTICS-RMON-EXT-MIB::getTableData

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.8.6.1.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-only

Description: The OCTET STRING consists of a header followed by a set of data records. The header consists of the information: response packet version number (1) [Integer16] data record encoding -- BER (1), BigEndian(2) [Integer16] agent sysUpTime value [TimeTicks] number of records in this response [Integer32] The data records consist of each dynamic index for this row plus each row entry defined in the source table's MIB definition.

What is getTableData?

This object returns a compact, custom-encoded blob of RMON table data: a short header, giving a format version, whether the data records use BER or big-endian encoding, the agent's current sysUpTime, and how many records follow, followed by the actual rows pulled from the source RMON table this entry references. Administrators' management software uses this as an efficient bulk-retrieval mechanism to pull many table rows in a single SNMP GET rather than walking the source table entry by entry. For example, a monitoring tool polling RMON history data might use this object to fetch dozens of historical sample records in one response instead of dozens of separate GETNEXT operations.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.8.6.1.1.1.3
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> SYNOPTICS-RMON-EXT-MIB::getTableData

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.8.6.1.1.1.3.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> SYNOPTICS-RMON-EXT-MIB::getTableData.1
