What is swL2UnitMgmtCtrlMode?

Configures the stacking role an admin wants this unit to take: auto lets the system elect stand-alone/master/slave automatically, while stand-alone(3)/master(4)/slave(5) force a specific role, though this can only be changed while the unit is currently running stand-alone. A master unit is the one whose console can modify the whole stack's configuration.
