OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.6.3.18.1.1.1.7

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: StorageType

Description: The storage type for this conceptual row in the snmpCommunityTable. Conceptual rows having the value 'permanent' need not allow write-access to any columnar object in the row.

What is snmpCommunityStorageType?

This object specifies how the row for a given community entry is stored, such as volatile, nonVolatile, or permanent. Admins care because a permanent row need not accept write access to its columns, which affects whether a community's settings can be modified or deleted via SNMP versus only through local configuration. For example, a community defined in the device's startup config might show as nonVolatile so it survives a reboot but can still be edited by an authorized manager.
