snmpCommunityName

Module: SNMP-COMMUNITY-MIB

OID (symbolic): SNMP-COMMUNITY-MIB::snmpCommunityName

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.6.3.18.1.1.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-create

Description:

The community string for which a row in this table represents a configuration. There is no SIZE constraint specified for this object because RFC 1157 does not impose any explicit limitation on the length of community strings (their size is constrained indirectly by the SNMP message size).

What is snmpCommunityName?

This OID stores a community string, which is a password used by SNMP clients to authenticate and read device information. Operators must know which community strings are authorized to access the device. You would configure this to restrict who can query the device via SNMP.
