tCommunityTrapEntryHostAddress

Module: SHIVA-COMM-MIB

OID (symbolic): SHIVA-COMM-MIB::tCommunityTrapEntryHostAddress

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.166.4.4.6.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-write

Description: Address of the trap host. It is interpreted according to the value of tCommunityTrapEntryHostType

What is tCommunityTrapEntryHostAddress?

This read-write octet string holds the address of one trap-recipient host in the trap table, interpreted according to the paired tCommunityTrapEntryHostType for that same table row. An admin populates this to add another destination that should receive the device's SNMP traps, letting the trap table fan events out to multiple management stations rather than the single legacy trap host object. For example, an admin adds a row with tCommunityTrapEntryHostAddress set to the IP address of a second NMS so both the primary and backup consoles receive trap notifications.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.166.4.4.6.1.1
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> SHIVA-COMM-MIB::tCommunityTrapEntryHostAddress

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.166.4.4.6.1.1.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> SHIVA-COMM-MIB::tCommunityTrapEntryHostAddress.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.166.4.4.6.1.1.1 s <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> tCommunityTrapEntryHostAddress.1
