swRIPngGarbageCollectionTime

Module: RIPNG-MIB

OID (symbolic): RIPNG-MIB::swRIPngGarbageCollectionTime

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.12.83.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This object indicates the period in seconds for a RIPng route which has aged out is retained in the IPv6 Routing Table. After this time interval the route is deleted from the IPv6 Routing Table.

What is swRIPngGarbageCollectionTime?

This read-write value, in seconds, sets how long an aged-out RIPng route is retained in the IPv6 routing table, typically marked unreachable, before being permanently deleted, defaulting to 120 seconds. This hold time gives neighboring routers a chance to learn the route is now unreachable before it disappears entirely, preventing routing black holes from premature deletion. For example, with the default 120-second garbage-collection time, a route that expired at time T remains visible as unreachable until roughly T+120 seconds.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.12.83.5
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> RIPNG-MIB::swRIPngGarbageCollectionTime

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.12.83.5.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> RIPNG-MIB::swRIPngGarbageCollectionTime.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.12.83.5.1 i <value>
