Module: RFC1229-MIB

OID (symbolic): RFC1229-MIB::ifExtnsMulticastsReceivedOks

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.12.1.1.6

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter

Access: read-only

Description: The count of frames successfully received that are directed to an active subnetwork or link-layer multicast address (for a MAC layer protocol, this includes both Group and Functional addresses). This does not include frames directed to a broadcast address, nor frames received with errors.

What is ifExtnsMulticastsReceivedOks?

This counter tracks frames successfully received that were directed to an active subnetwork or link-layer multicast address, including Group and Functional addresses for MAC-layer protocols, but it excludes broadcasts and frames received with errors. It helps an admin confirm that expected multicast traffic, such as routing protocol hellos or multicast video, is actually arriving on the interface. If a multicast application isn't working, checking whether this counter increments distinguishes a receive-side problem from a sender-side one.
