This counter tracks frames successfully received that were directed to a subnetwork or link-layer broadcast address, excluding frames received with errors. Admins use it to baseline normal broadcast volume, such as ARP requests and DHCP discovers, on a segment and to spot abnormal increases. Comparing this counter's growth rate before and after adding a new VLAN can reveal whether the new segment is generating excess broadcast traffic.
