rsSnmpTrapSource

Module: REDSTONE-SNMP-MIB

OID (symbolic): REDSTONE-SNMP-MIB::rsSnmpTrapSource

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2773.2.16.1.3.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-write

Description: The ifIndex of the interface whose IP address is used as the source IP address for outbound SNMP traps.

If zero, no interface is specified, the mechanism for selecting a source IP address is implementation-dependent, and may vary with each trap sent.

What is rsSnmpTrapSource?

This read-write value is the ifIndex of the interface whose IP address should be used as the source address for outbound SNMP traps; a value of zero leaves the source address selection to an implementation-dependent, possibly per-trap-varying mechanism. An admin sets this to a stable loopback or management interface's ifIndex so all traps consistently appear to originate from one known, reachable address regardless of which physical interface actually sent them. For example, setting rsSnmpTrapSource to the ifIndex of a loopback interface ensures traps are always sourced from that stable address even if the device's physical uplink interface changes.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2773.2.16.1.3.2
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> REDSTONE-SNMP-MIB::rsSnmpTrapSource

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2773.2.16.1.3.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> REDSTONE-SNMP-MIB::rsSnmpTrapSource.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2773.2.16.1.3.2.1 i <value>
