What Is RC-SMI?

RC-SMI is a vendor enterprise Structure of Management Information MIB that defines the OID registration hierarchy for a Resource Control System's family of MIB modules. Like other SMI modules, it exposes no runtime monitoring data by itself; it exists purely to establish the enterprise and product OID branches that other Resource Control MIBs register their tables and scalars beneath. Consequently it has no direct role in exposing hardware/software status such as uptime, temperature, or CPU load - that data would live in companion Resource Control MIBs built on this tree. Engineers setting up SNMP polling for Resource Control System equipment generally need the RC-SMI SNMP registration module compiled first, since it depends on standard SNMPv2-SMI enterprise-numbering conventions for its OID assignments. It would typically be compiled as a silent structural prerequisite whenever a management station loads the fuller Resource Control System MIB suite.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RC-SMI. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • vendor-neutral in structure but vendor-specific in scope
  • Resource Control System network devices

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were available for this module and it defines no tables or scalars of its own - only the OID registration node for the Resource Control enterprise. There is nothing to poll directly from this MIB. Monitoring of actual resource-control device status would occur through companion MIBs that register beneath this root.
