rbnStackedVlanHCInMulticastPkts

Module: RBN-STACKEDVLAN-MIB

OID (symbolic): RBN-STACKEDVLAN-MIB::rbnStackedVlanHCInMulticastPkts

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2352.2.40.1.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter64

Access: read-only

Description: The aggregate number of packets, delivered by this sub-layer to a higher (sub-)layer, which were addressed to a multicast address at this sub-layer for each outer vlan and its inner vlans. For a MAC layer protocol, this includes both Group and Functional addresses.

What is rbnStackedVlanHCInMulticastPkts?

This read-only 64-bit counter tracks packets received that were addressed to a multicast, including MAC-layer Group and Functional, address, aggregated across the outer VLAN and its inner VLANs. Admins monitor this to detect unusually high multicast volume, which can indicate multicast flooding or a misconfigured multicast application on one of the stacked VLANs. A sudden spike in rbnStackedVlanHCInMulticastPkts could point an admin toward a multicast video stream or routing protocol storm on one of the inner VLANs.
