This object selects which traffic class -- broadcast, registered multicast, unregistered multicast, all multicast, unknown unicast, or all -- a given storm-control/rate-limit row applies to. Since it's part of the table's index alongside the port, an admin sets this when creating a separate rate-limit rule for each traffic type they want to control independently on a port. For example, an admin worried about broadcast storms but not multicast traffic would create a row with this object set to broadcast(1) and leave other traffic types unrestricted.
