Administrators set this to constrain or force a port into a specific expected role rather than letting it freely negotiate, which is useful for locking down fabric topology. Setting this object to fPort on a port connected to a single host bus adapter ensures the switch expects and enforces a point-to-point fabric login rather than loop behavior.
