prtOutputRemainingCapacity

Module: Printer-MIB

OID (symbolic): Printer-MIB::prtOutputRemainingCapacity

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.43.9.2.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-write

Description: The remaining capacity of the possible output sub-unit capacity in output sub-unit capacity units (PrtCapacityUnitTC)of this output sub-unit. If this output sub- unit can reliably sense this value, the value is sensed by the printer and may not be modified by management requests;

otherwise, the value may be written (by a Remote Control Panel or a Management Application). The value (-1) means other and specifically indicates that the sub-unit places no restrictions on this parameter. The value (-2) means unknown. The value (-3) means that the printer knows that there remains capacity for at least one unit.

What is prtOutputRemainingCapacity?

This value reports (or, for bins that can't sense their own fill level, lets an admin set) how much more capacity remains in an output bin, in that bin's capacity units; -1 means other/no restriction, -2 means unknown, and -3 means the printer only knows there's room for at least one more unit. Monitoring tools watch this to warn before an unattended output bin fills up and jams incoming pages.
